WHEN I WAS a field missionary in Mexico City, I saw poverty every day. When I left my apartment, there would be a beggar, sitting on the corner. When I entered the subway, there would be a blind man, asking for help. And even when I drove, children would swarm the mission van every time I stopped at a light, wanting to wash my windshield for a few loose coins.
It was hard to see this kind of poverty day after day…and impossible not to make a decision about how I was going to respond to it. In our world today, some organizations focus solely on evangelism; others focus completely on social issues. But for more than 100 years, OMS International has been involved with both. Jesus certainly touched people on every level, including heart, mind, body and soul.
Since joining One Mission Society in 2003, I’ve wanted to tell the story of how God is
using OMS through compassionate ministries, as well as through evangelism, church planting and leadership training. In this issue of One Mission Society Outreach, we do just that. We share stories of how God is changing lives and transforming hearts and how He’s using the churches, the ministries and the "ministers" of One Mission Society to do it.
We welcome your help in praying for the needs of One Mission Society worldwide, One Mission Society Prayer Requests. If you would like to help us fulfill the great commission, Give to One Mission Society
